Simple but effective - Ngunnawal

Our client wanted a new parking space at the front of his property, one that can be used as a drive in – drive out (horse shoe) style. With this he wanted a grand entrance but one that allowed style and functionality by providing access to the rear of the property, he had an idea of a boardwalk but wanted that little bit more “pizazz”. We constructed a Corten retaining wall to allow a terraced effect. We laid fresh turf and added some planting to soften the harshness of the dark colours which provides multiple textures in one picture perfect garden.

All in all this was a simple design but yet so effective.

A grand entrance using minimal steps to allow easy access. Constructed from treated Pine sub frames with Merbau decking boards then cladded in Corten to match the new terrace.

Merbau boardwalk allowing access to the rear of the property through the side gate.

The new terrace constructed out of treated pine sleepers and then cladded in Corten sheeting, topped with fresh Canberra blend turf.

The Merbau boardwalk with a curve…. The crew had a challenge on their hands but if you look closely you can see the fine details of how precise each board was cut.

The horse shoe car space was created by spreading and compacting Ginninderra Red Granite using Adbri Havenbricks to create a neat boarder.

We are very proud of this Corten wall. Hoping the rain would take motion with the rusting effect we decided to help speed up the process. A little trick to help bring the rust out is…… vinegar! Yep countless hours of rubbing vinegar all over this wall to get it to this beautiful colour. Can’t say we smelt great after this.

Adding a mix of shrubs and grasses creates this soft effect that compliments the hash structures and colours. Installing irrigation to both lawn and planting to keep on top of the lushness was a must for this client.

The horse shoe allows easy access from the driveway and provides a private parking space. The boardwalk allows easy access to the front of the property, finishing flush with the current front door entrance the colours of the timbers and granite compliment the existing red features of the house.
